Terms of service
Effective May 2026
The friend-code
WhiMate is for meeting people in real life. By using it, you agree to three things:
- Be nice to strangers.
- Show up when you say you will.
- If someone's a creep, report them.
Who can use it
You need to be 18 or older. You confirm this when you sign up. We rely on your honesty — if you're lying about your age, you're also breaking these terms.
What you post
You're responsible for everything you post — your name, photo, Instagram handle, activity ideas, messages. Don't post anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, spammy, or that impersonates someone else.
We can remove content, block accounts, or end your access if you violate this. We don't have to explain why or warn you first.
Meeting safely
We do our best to keep the platform friendly, but we can't vet every person. You're meeting strangers — same rules as the rest of the internet:
- Meet in public spots the first time (we have a list at /spots).
- Tell a friend where you'll be.
- Trust your gut. If it feels off, leave.
What we're not responsible for
WhiMateis a way to find each other — not a babysitter for what happens after. We don't verify identities, run background checks, guarantee anyone will show up, or take responsibility for offline interactions. Use your judgement.
Changes
We might change these terms. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is meaningful, we'll tell you in the app.
